Just
before entering Val di Chiesa there is a pathway to the east which
goes down along wide turns. At the crossroads, near a ruin, take the
left turning which halfway along leads to "Case dello Zucco Grande"
(Houses of the Zucco Grande). The
panorama is breathtaking: upstream there is Punta Lazzaro (m 510);
downstream, Monte Guardia, Piano del Porto and Capo Graziano; in front
of us Stromboli, Panarea, Salina, Lipari and Vulcano all stand out.
The pathway winds through lush island vegetation with patches of
Mediterranean maquis.
